Every 25 November, we remember a reality that, while visible in every sphere, takes on a particular dimension in rural areas: women’s struggle to live and work in environments free from violence, discrimination and inequality. For women in rural villages, where community life is closer-knit and access to specialist resources can be limited, this date calls not only for reflection but for active commitment.
Rural women hold it all together
Spain’s countryside has historically been sustained by women’s hands, yet women have often been left out of the sector’s official picture. Rural women have farmed the land, managed farms, kept family and social networks alive, and brought quiet innovation to agriculture. Even so, for decades they have faced additional obstacles: less professional recognition, difficulties in accessing joint ownership of farms, an unequal share of caregiving and limited public visibility.
At Cebollas Marchite, things are different by conviction, not by chance. We know that the future of the agricultural sector depends on bringing in diverse talent, which means ensuring that women in our region have a voice, a place and opportunities to grow. Our team includes women in technical, logistics and management roles: women who lead key processes and prove every day that professionalism knows no gender.
Marking 25N as a farming business is not about isolated symbolic gestures but about upholding working principles: real equality of opportunity, zero tolerance of any form of violence, internal policies that protect and support, and a business model that contributes to the dignified development of the rural community.
Women’s struggle does not belong to the past or to other places: it is here, on every farm, in every warehouse and in every village. And at Cebollas Marchite, we will keep working for an agricultural sector where everyone can grow without fear and with a future.
