The Land of Our Onions

If there’s one thing that defines our land, it’s that it is a land of crops and farming.

Onions need temperate or warm climates with a dry environment to grow well. They need a cool period during which the leafy part of the plant develops, followed by a period of high temperatures and plenty of sunlight for the bulb to ripen and swell.

The onion is a very hardy vegetable that can withstand even the latest frosts, and while it grows it needs moist, fertile soil to guarantee the flavour of our crops.

As well as the good climate, we’re lucky to be able to make the most of the strong north wind, which dries the onions and keeps them in perfect condition.

At Marchite we pamper our onions, because caring for the crop is essential to achieving a good harvest of excellent-quality onions.
